History of Mannar Craft

Around 200 years ago, the Travancore rulers may have brought the Vishwakarama community from Tamil Nadu to Mannar to cast bronze icons for rituals in Travancore temples. Today, artisans in Mannar work in forges to produce a variety of bell metal products, such as household utensils like urulis, nilavilakku, and kindis.
